New domestic abuse hub opens in Fleetwood

    After 3 years of providing support Behind Closed Doors finally has a base.

    “Behind Closed Doors”  is an informal support group for women who are experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse. The Wyre Neighbourhood Policing Team are working closely with the team locally and will be supporting the opening of their new and first “hub” in Fleetwood at 21 Adelaide  Street on Tuesday 18th March. They are opening a shop called Hampers Of Hope which will sell hampers donated to raise funds and part of the premises is a private area where they can work with and speak to females in need.

    The hub will consist of-

    Fundraising -(Hampers of hope) where all funds raised goes straight back into supporting our service users.( New/ unused donations of toiletries, candles etc welcome)

    Connections with alternative services/ referrals

    1-1 & group support

    Drop in sessions

    Awareness events

    And much more…

    "As a lived experience team, we have a genuine connection and understanding with women who are at risk of, or experiencing any form of abuse. It is vital that women are heard and believed, to make positive changes.

    "We are honoured to say Angela Dawes, Mother of Kiena Dawes, whom tragically lost her life to Domestic Abuse in 2022, alongside Fleetwood Area Police will be opening our hub next Tuesday morning.

    Opening times for the first few weeks:

    Tuesday 10am-2pm (from 12.30 on the 18th)

    Thursday 10am-2pm

    Friday 10am-2pm
