Trintiy Hospice is proud to be one of over 143 hospices taking part in the ‘This is Hospice Care’ campaign – a national initiative facilitated by Hospice UK. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the vital role hospices play in communities and to shift public perceptions of hospice care. The campaign, which launched this week, has already captured hearts and minds through a powerful TV advert based on real life hospice stories. The goal is to encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their will to support their local hospice, ensuring that these essential services can continue to provide their compassionate and specialist care for future generations. David Houston, Chief Executive at Trinity, said: “We're proud to be joining hospices across England, Scotland and Wales to protect the future of hospice care. We’re very excited to be part of a nation-wide campaign to help raise the profile of hospices and the incredible work we do.“As a registered charity, we rely heavily on donations to keep our doors open. That's why we've joined forces to shine a light on the essential role hospices play in our communities and protect our futures. “Gifts in wills are crucial to the survival and growth of hospices like ours, that’s why we’re asking our incredible supporters and community to consider leaving a gift to our hospice. Together, we can help hospice care live on for all, for now, forever. “The thoughtful and very generous gifts that people leave to us in their Wills pays for the care of one in every four of our patients hereat Trinity Hospice. Just 1% can make a lasting difference to our charity and the families who rely on us, and helps us look to the future with confidence, knowing we can continue care for generations. ”Trinity is encouraging people across the Fylde coast to consider the profound impact that a gift in their will can have, helping the charity to support people like Pippa and Steve when Steve was referred to Trinity Hospice last year.“Right from the start, Steve knew he wanted to be at Trinity,” Pippa says. “We’d seen their compassion and care the year before when my Dad was at the hospice, and knew it would be the right place for all of us to just have time together, when the time came.“As soon as he arrived at the hospice, they assessed his symptoms and pain management, and it was like I got Steve back. For him to be awake and not in pain was a miracle to us. It meant the world to have a week just speaking with him again.
“Even an hour before he died, he was eating an omelette! That’s simply down to how incredible everyone at the hospice was. I am eternally grateful to every single person at Trinity.“It’s like all of a sudden someone takes your hand and says, ‘it’s going to be OK’, and you realise it will be OK. The day is coming, and it’ll be sad, but you’re in this perfect place, you’re all together and it’s peaceful. At Trinity, this heartbreaking moment is also calm and as pleasant an experience as it possibly can be. ”In Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, legacy giving has made a significant difference. Last year, legacy gifts accounted for over 19% of Trinity’s income, paying for the care of one in every four patients and their families.
